Lesson Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 25 October 2026. These terms apply when a parent, guardian or adult swimmer pays for and arranges lessons with SwiftSwim. A “Booking” means either a one-off Session or a multi-week Course. A “Session” includes a trial or other single lesson. A “Course” means the series of lessons selected at checkout, with dates arranged personally after payment.

1. Enrolment and class suitability

Choose a lesson or Course, provide the required swimmer and contact information, and pay the amount shown at checkout. After payment, Mat will contact you to arrange suitable lesson dates and confirm the details. A payment receipt confirms the amount received; it does not reserve a specific session or confirm a lesson schedule. The lesson arrangements are confirmed when those details have been agreed. A one-off Session is paid in full at checkout and has no remaining balance. For a Course, the remaining balance is part of the total price shown at checkout; no Course balance is due until suitable lessons have been agreed. The information supplied must be accurate and complete. SwiftSwim may contact you before the first lesson if the selected option does not appear suitable for the student's age, stage, confidence or support needs.

2. Arranging your lessons

Our Sunday venue is Canon Slade School, Bolton. The published timetable describes the teaching plan, including sessions marked as planned; it does not allocate a date or guarantee a particular session. Opening PayPal or completing payment does not hold a place. Wait for Mat to agree your lesson dates and details before attending. If SwiftSwim and the customer cannot agree a suitable placement, the placement payment will be refunded to the original payment method.

3. Prices and payment

The total Booking price and the amount due at checkout are shown before payment. For a Course, any initial payment is part-payment of the total Course price and is not an additional fee; the remaining balance is also shown before payment. Mat will arrange payment of that balance with you. This is not an automatic instalment collection or subscription. A one-off Session is charged at the full single-session price shown and has no later balance. Payments are taken securely in pounds sterling. SwiftSwim does not store PayPal passwords or complete card details. A PayPal approval that has not been captured is not a confirmed payment.

4. One-off sessions and trials

A Session is a Booking for one lesson at Canon Slade School, Bolton, with the date and details arranged with Mat after payment. It is not a Course, does not create a continuing commitment and does not guarantee a place on a future Course. Any later Session or Course requires a separate booking. If SwiftSwim and the customer cannot agree a suitable pool and time for a paid Session, the Session payment will be refunded to the original payment method. The missed-lesson and provider-cancellation terms below apply to Sessions as well as Courses.

5. Statutory cancellation rights

Where the law gives you a 14-day right to cancel an online service contract, that period begins when the booking contract is made. You can cancel by clearly contacting SwiftSwim through the contact page. A qualifying cancellation will be refunded using the original payment method. If you expressly request lessons to begin during that period, SwiftSwim may deduct a proportionate amount for services already supplied. Statutory rights are not affected by these terms.

6. Cancellations after any statutory period

Tell SwiftSwim as soon as possible if the student cannot attend a Session or continue a Course. After any applicable statutory cancellation period, SwiftSwim may deduct from payments already made—or seek payment for—losses directly caused by the cancellation, such as lessons already received and reasonable committed costs that cannot be recovered. SwiftSwim will take reasonable steps to reduce its loss, including trying to refill the place where practical. Any amount retained will not exceed a reasonable estimate of the actual direct loss, and any remaining refundable amount will be returned. An initial Course payment or Session payment is not automatically non-refundable in every circumstance.

7. Missed lessons

A missed lesson, including a missed one-off Session or trial, does not normally create an entitlement to a replacement, credit or refund. Do not attend when the student is unwell, has symptoms of a contagious condition or has been advised not to swim.

8. Changes or cancellation by SwiftSwim

Pool closures, instructor illness, safety concerns or circumstances outside reasonable control may require a lesson to be changed or cancelled. SwiftSwim will provide reasonable notice where possible and will offer an appropriate replacement, credit or refund for a paid lesson that it cannot provide. A venue or timetable will not be changed without a reasonable operational reason.

9. Health, safety and additional needs

The parent, guardian or adult swimmer must disclose relevant medical conditions, allergies, medication, disability, accessibility requirements and additional support needs before lessons and keep SwiftSwim informed of changes. SwiftSwim may pause participation where necessary to assess safety or whether reasonable support can be provided.

10. Supervision and behaviour

For every children's lesson, including a one-off Session or trial, the child's parent or legal guardian must remain poolside and available for the full duration of the lesson, as well as remaining responsible for the child before handover and immediately afterwards. The parent or legal guardian must follow the venue's poolside rules and any reasonable instructions from SwiftSwim or venue staff. Students and accompanying adults must follow safety instructions and behave respectfully. Serious or repeated unsafe behaviour may result in suspension or termination; SwiftSwim will consider the circumstances and any reasonable adjustments before deciding.

11. Photography and recording

Photography or filming is prohibited unless SwiftSwim and the venue have expressly agreed to it and all necessary permissions have been obtained. Any optional consent for promotional photography will be requested separately and is not a condition of enrolment.

12. Personal information

SwiftSwim uses enrolment information to assess suitability, deliver lessons, manage safety, maintain records and administer payment. Health information is used only with a suitable legal basis and the separate explicit consent requested during enrolment. See the Privacy Policy for more information.

13. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights. SwiftSwim is not responsible for loss arising from inaccurate or withheld information, failure to follow reasonable safety instructions, or events outside its reasonable control, except where the law provides otherwise.

14. Concerns and complaints

Please raise any concern promptly through the contact page so it can be investigated fairly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, without restricting any mandatory consumer right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
